AI MAY SPOT DEPRESSION RISK YEARS EARLIER.
Researchers at Shenzhen University built a model that looks for patterns linked to future depression risk.
They analyzed brain scans, blood biomarkers, and questionnaires from the IMAGEN study.
One interesting finding:
19-year-olds who had more difficulty reading emotional expressions were statistically more likely to develop clinical depression by age 23.
The model isn't predicting someone's future with certainty.
But if this research holds up, AI could eventually help identify risk much earlier and support earlier intervention.
