An 18-year-old built a filter that removed 95% of microplastics.
Mia Heller’s prototype uses ferrofluid and magnets to pull microplastics out of water. It also recovered 87.15% of the ferrofluid for reuse.
The technology still needs more testing before it can be used in real-world water systems.
But for an experimental prototype 95.52% is pretty impressive.
